Do you consider being in a sorority 'Buying your Friends'?

Because the thing is, people who don't like Greeks or the whole Greek system always use that to bash them. The thing is, if you are going to college, are you not 'buying your friends' as well? I mean, you never would have met half of the people( more than that) if you had never gone, hence you would not have them as friends. Greek life (xspecially at my school) does alot of good things for the community as well-that is why they need $$$. I know that some frat boys can be just stupid fruity jerks but i know alot of stupid fruity jerks who arent in frats as well. I;m just asking, why is everyone hating on Greek life?
