Were the Crusades reasonable responses to a jihad that seized nations, destroyed churches, and killed pilgrims?
You have to take into consideration when the crusades took place and what was going on in the world particularly in Gerusalem. It was more defensive in a time where if you do not fight back you will be stolen and given death. More so when it is surrounded by non-Christian rekigions who had no other interest except to bury down and take what was of value from there. That was the situation when the Crusades were set up. There was no respect for others belief but greed to take over and get rich and also take people as slaves especially to row in their vessels. How much more when there were the most holy places of Christiandom.
