Question about Unitarian Universalism identification?
I grew up in a very strict church that preached fear. I haven't been for years as I don't believe what they preach. Over the past few years I have been yearning for spiritual growth but do not want to go back to a typical "christian" type atmosphere as I also believe that all religions have some merit and I don't want to discredit any of them. I took a quiz and it said that I was 100% Unitarian Universalist. I researched it online and found a church by me; however, I have a question regarding the identification of what you would call yourself. I understand that people identify themselves as all different types of religions, but what if you do not have a particular religious background. I mean, I grew up Christian, but I don't know exactly if I identify what that anymore, but maybe I still do. Are there any Unitarian Universalists that just identify themselves as that and nothing else beyond that? I'm just curious about trying to grow spiritually in an accepting enviroment. Thanks all!
